Carl Takes Momentary Lead
January 30, 2006
GLEN ALLEN, VA — The reigning Carl Spackler has taken the early lead of the 2006 Virtual Tournament. Carl, a.k.a. Mike Herron, has taken the lead from his home course in Glen Allen, VA.
"It is a pleasure to turn things around in 2006," says Herron. "I need to improve and buckle myself in for a very long season."
Herron lost the 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship last June. He currently holds first position over 5 other opponents with an unbelievable 77 strokes last weekend.
Jason Ridgeway has one simple question for the tournament leader. "How does anyone shoot 101 and 77 strokes on the same weekend at the same course," said a very disgruntled Ridgeway. "These scorecard discreptencies is what delivered the Outfit to his hotel room last June."
The cards do show integrity as both were signed by members of his foursome.
Herron shot even par with 9 pars during his back nine last Sunday. "It was quite impressive," says Joe Butkus. "He needs to figure out how to keep it going."
The 2006 Virtual Tournament is expected to pick up in early April. There are 11 months left in the season-long tournament.
