Dosky misses 138

July 23, 2001

COLUMBUS, OH — The day was hot, but the humidity was much more intense.  Rick Dosky was the man and he had a date at the Players Club in Lockbourne, Ohio.  What started as a good round ended short of a complete disaster as the CFO started with a par on Hole #2 and double bogey on Hole #3.  No one would have thought that a OlaFowble-like round was possible from a man with such talent for the game and half-decent start.  "I new that 138 was totally out of the question", said Rick.  "If I was going to embarrass myself, I would not have shown up."

Rick shot a 60-over, 132 in route to the second worst score since the Carl Spackler Open began in March 2001.  Down the stretch it seemed Rick had a 120 something in control until he surprised the foursome by reaching the par 3, Hole 17 in regulation.  Rick preseeded to 5-putt for a six and ensured a 130+ for his round.  "I can't believe a 5-putt was possible.  I got the butterflies and just wasn't able to concentrate."

OlaFowble was reached Sunday for comment on Dosky's performance.  "Rick is good kid and my game is coming around.  I just had knee surgery on my boo-boo and expect to be back to challenge my 138."  OlaFowble shot only one round to date which came in the Spring Open.  He shot 67-71 for a 138.  OlaFowble did not lose a ball, nor take a penalty stroke that day.
