WARREN, PA — Jim English, a.k.a. Skip, rookie for 2004, shot an average 33-over par and 48.7 points per round. This stellar play has earned a very big surprise first place finish in the season-long 2004 On Tour Championship.

His win over Glenn Hoffert was 1/3 point per round.

While booming long drives and staying out of trouble most of the day, Skip has steadily acquired a 21.7 handicap index and lowering scores each round.

"I am not getting the big numbers," says English. "There is a difference between consistency, crappy, and lucky. I was never lucky, used to be crappy, and now making a move to become a much better player."

English is playing his home courses, Cable Hollow and Blueberry Hill near Warren, PA. "Both Hoffert and English are playing the same courses each week," says Chad Long. "Skip is sadly mistaken if he believes this will help his chances to win the Open Championship. Let's see what he shoots at Bavarian Hills or Pine Acres."

Behind rookie Jim English and Glenn Hoffert (winner of the 2001 On Tour Championship) stands a group of players fighting for the title. Mike Lewis finishes in 3rd place with Matt Davis, Tom Fowble, and Jim Zavinksi closely behind. Joe Caridi, Don McFarland, Jim Campbell, and Jason Ridgeway round out the Top 10.

"The tournament was tight all the way to the end," says Don Creighton.  "That is exactly where the tournament should be."

Scott Zavinski slid to the bottom spot last weekend and takes 59th place.

The On Tour Championship is a season-long tournament starting back on February 1st.  A record 59 participants were involved in the 2004 tournament.  All registered players will receive new points on January 1, 2005 for the 2005 tournament.
