Butkus Crossing

December 9, 2004

GLEN ALLEN, VA — Joe Butkus is quickly crossing over into the most active member in Spackler history.  Since his surprise registration in mid-September, the young, but retired Butkus has played 24 rounds since September 18.

Butkus finished tied for 35th place with 35.7 NOOG points per round.  He averages 23-over par per round.  He plays his golf at the Crossings, where 22 of the 27 scorecards are posted from.

"I am happy to have found a place for all my data," says Butkus.  "I am happy to find a place to challenge my game and make a statement to all my friends in Glen Allen.  My last few months is only the beginning of my lengthy retirement and hundreds of rounds to be posted."

Butkus is expected to sign for his first major championship in the next few days.  "We are glad to have Butkus," says Tom McCauley of the Captains Club.  "I just want to call him Dick Butkus so bad it hurts.  The time he has to put into the game will definitely benefit Spackler, his obvious retirement time, and the game of golf."

The On Tour Championship will begin on February 1.  The players will receive new NOOG points that represent their 2004 season.  The winner of the season-long tournament represents the most improved golfer of the year.
