GLEN ALLEN, VA — Virginia's Mike Herron has not claimed his first anything except taking a little money from his buddies.  He did claim 46th place in the 2004 On Tour Championship after shooting an average 32.2 points per round.

Mike has quietly settled into the group of 103 golfers as the 11th best.  So quiet, a minor stir of controversy has begun including his "top of the line" golf clubs.  "Let's see how he does from the range barrel," says Scott Zavinski.  "Anyone can putt with a $200 putter, $1,000 set of irons, and $350 driver.   He is simply buying his way to good golf."   Herron has been playing golf for 45 years.  His Titleist 983K driver sets up nearly every par or double bogey he puts on the card.  "I am happy with my clubs, but wish the ball would go further.  Age sneeks right up on people and technology keeps things fair."

Herron last placed at White Columns Country Club where he scored 41 points.  After a disaster front nine 46 strokes, he roared back for an impressive 39 stroke back nine.  The 2005 On Tour Championship will begin on February 1.  The NOOG points for the season-long event will be set on January 1.
