CHIEFLAND, FL — Matt Munksgard, who registered in early January, has taken the lead in the 2005 On Tour Championship after an impressive 76 point round at Chiefland Country Club in Chiefland, Florida.  His round consisted of 7 birdies worth 63 points and received 7 bonus points for course strength.  He had 6 pars worth 6 points.

"It was one of my best rounds," says Munksgard after his round.  "This should lower my handicap quite a bit."

Munksgard was told his first position in the On Tour Championship.  "It is early," said a humble Munksgard.  "This tournament is 10 months and we are just getting started.  Anything can happen and I can assure you that I will be scoring less points the next time."

He holds the top spot with 41.2 points per round.

Matt Munksgard has a USGA Handicap Index of +0.9 at the current time.  He has already submitted 10 scorecards towards the 2005 On Tour Championship.  Scott Zavinski falls from the top spot into 2nd place.
