Huge Drought to End
March 17, 2005
WESTERVILLE, OH — A huge drought is expected to end on Friday, March 25 at 8:30AM. If everything goes well, Chad Long, 2004 Horses Ass and 2003 Runner Up, is scheduled to play his first non-major round of golf in nearly 17 months.
"It has really been a long time since I left my house for a round of golf," says Long. "I probably need to start looking for my golf bag, missing 7-iron, and shoes. I think I saw the left shoe a few weeks ago in the garage."
Chad Long last played golf on October 11th of 2003 at Clover Valley. He scored what would have been 16 points. He had only one par and took 109 strokes.
"This is a two-sided coin," says Glenn Hoffert from his home in Virginia. "It is great to see him back, but his complete absence from the 2004 On Tour Championship is really unexcusable and demands a personal apology to the entire group."
Chad was reached for comment as the flood of reports challenged him as he left his office building for lunch. "Everyone needs to calm down," said Long. "My absence should not be the center of attention and is quite misleading. Are you sure it has been a year in a half since I have contributed in the On Tour Championship?"
A reporter immediately laughed and said with a muttled voice, "His short term memory in June has carried over a full year." Chad immediately responded to the reporter. "Well, if it has been that long, I do apologize. It is quite pathetic. I will make a better attempt at getting some time on the golf course in 2005. I also look forward to the 2005 Open Championship where you will see a true champion."
Several players are scheduled for play at Oakhaven on March 25 including Jason Watson, Greg Long, rookie Jim DeMaria, 2003 On Tour Champion Tim Nightwine, and Jamie McWilliams. A few guys could play 36 holes to open their 2005 seasons.
