Davis Getting Stronger
March 24, 2005
PITTSBURGH, PA — Captains Club Member, Matt Davis has been on the "physically unable to perform" (PUP) list since his Snow Emergency of Jan. 27, 2005 during which he seriously injured himself in a snow blower accident under circumstances still not yet clear.
Davis has always been a stronger leader and proponent of the Spackler ideals. He not only believes in them, he lives them with every breath drawn. His lore as a member of the Carl Spackler Organization is worthy of any Greek epic, Shakespearean drama, or Penny Saver news column.
That is why the word of his injury and likelihood of missing the 2005 On Tour Championship and major was crushing to all. Members despair no longer! For this beat reporter has wonderful news. Davis is getting stronger!
Davis recently communicated that his therapy "is coming along good but slow. I have about 2 months of therapy still in front of me. I am already starting to plan my first day to blow off work to play golf." That's the Davis we know. Hoorah! Davis went on to say "I will probably not be playing much golf until just before the 2005 major. However, I am going to give it a shot in Myrtle Beach in two weeks."
Speculation already has begun on what condition Davis' game will be heading into the On Tour Championship. Captains Club member Jason Dilks was quoted as saying "His comeback is nothing short of a miracle." Dilks further commented "I?m sure Matt will log some triple digit scores as he attempts to make a comeback. This medically accepted form of sandbagging will allow him to get a favorable NOOG points."
Brian Flanagan also noted "In a Terrell Owens like fashion, Matt Davis has scheduled March 30 as his come back date. That's almost 5 months ahead of schedule. Matt Davis is planning on playing Myrtle Beach without official clearance from team doctors. If all goes well expect another Matt Davis like performance come June 9."
Fellow Captains Club member, Jason Watson, further offered that, "Davis has no shot at winning the season-long tournament. None. The only shot Davis has is the one I?m going to pour him."
Charles Lindbergh once said "Any coward can sit at home and criticize a pilot for flying into a mountain in a fog. But I would rather by far die on a mountainside than in bed." Fly high Matt Davis. Fly high.
