Boom! Creighton Strikes
May 5, 2005
NEW YORK, NY — The 2005 On Tour Championship was led by Steve Hoden of Warren, PA. Then Don Creighton decided it was his year and made a trip from New York to Arizona. When he returned, he shocked the field with his first place position within the On Tour Championship.
"Everyone better watch their backs," said a very excited and confident Creighton. "I have made some adjustments to my swing and things are incredible right now. I plan to lower the boom all season."
Don is currently averaging 52.5 points per round and easily winning the season-long tournament. His worst round of the season was 46 points. That in itself is good enough for 2nd place.
Prior to 2005, Don was averaging 1.2 pars per round. He is more than doubled that this spring. Even better, he was averaging 3.3 bogeys per round. He is averaging 6.75 bogeys per round in 2005 and the difference in points per round is scary.
"The first thing I did was look at the course bonuses," says Jamie Myers. "But, I was pleasantly surprised with the tournament style yardages and consistency. I don't know what is going on, but someone needs to investigate."
The On Tour Championship current has 32 players. Don leads the tournament with Tom McCauley in last place. Steve Hoden, Billy Smalls, Surinder Punia, Jason Ridgeway fall down the leaderboard one spot to make room for the Creighton Boom.
