Intentions to Blast

July 28, 2005

WARREN, PA — Jon Munksgard has every intention to not play golf correctly.  His intention is clear.  To bring the club back to the top of the swing, pause, and just release the most aggression possible on the golf ball regardless of swing path, ball flight, or final destination of the ball or club.

"I just want to kill it," says Munksgard from his garage in Warren.  "Some people say I am using too much right arm, but if I was going to punch someone at a bar, I would not use my left."

Munksgard is best noted for his 2003 Carl Spackler Outfit.  He withdrew from the 2003 tournament after passing out on the 54th and final tee tox with 86 strokes on the back nine.

He is the most relaxed man on the golf course.  "Jon is very pleasant to be around," says member Andrew Dill.  "Between the aggression from his eighteen tee shots and Captains Morgan, it is quite obvious there are no frustrations left when he putts out on Hole 18.  I have never been around anyone so happy and relaxed."

Munksgard was expected to take home the Crapper Award in 2005 as the worst player in Spackler History.  Instead he dominated the course shooting 123 strokes and shooting lights out with the putter.  He placed 7th for overall long putt points and was in 7th place on the overall tournament leaderboard after Round 1.  "I played terrible, but great on certain holes and putted great," says Munksgard.  "That is what Spackler is all about.  Scoring points on certain holes and ignoring my 140 strokes in the final round."

His success is currently limited in the On Tour Championship where he continues to hold 61st position with 32.8 points per round.  His last round at Jackson Valley carded him a poor 27 points and 130 strokes.
