TROY, NY — Although he lives in the 42nd best golf town in America, Surinder Punia gave up the local opportunities and secretly retired in early July.

Punia walks away after slipping to 16th place for the On Tour Championship with 42.2 points per round.  "It is truely a shame that someone or something can negatively effect his golfing career," says Jay Dilks.  "It feels like he just started playing and he is already done.  A true shame."

Punia is coming off his 2nd best NOOG round in his career scoring 52 points at Frear Park Golf Course in Troy, NY.

"I really do not have time for Spackler," says Punia.  "I am very busy."

Punia joined the group over the Labor Day Weekend last year.  He submitted 22 scorecards until the 4th of July.  He attended his first Open Championship a few months ago tied for 33rd place.

The 2005 On Tour Championship concludes in 4 months.  Currently a record 78 players are on the very long and active leaderboard.
