Bakshi Takes Lead
September 6, 2005
WOODLAND HILLS, CA — Ravinder Bakshi of Woodland Hills, CA took the lead on Monday while washing his clothes and watching football. His sudden move into first place came after Jean Dore catastrophic round at the Signature Course at West Neck.
Dore scored a heart breaking 22 points that included 62 strokes on the back nine that included 2 triple bogeys, 2 quadruple bogeys, and 1 quintuple bogey.
"It was like Norman in the Masters," says Trent Cooper. "Amazingly, all his clubs staying in one piece."
The round was his worst of the year behind his Round 3 at the 2005 Carl Spackler Open. It as also 1 of 4 rounds over 100 strokes in 2005.
"He sucks on Labor Day," says friend Chris Hays. "He should have worked on Monday."
Ravinder Bakshi moves up one spot into 1st place as September continues to march on. Tom Fowble, owner of the 2003 Golden Jacket, slides into 2nd place while Dore drops to 3rd place.
In other news, the 2004 On Tour Champion, James English, has incredibly mounted a charge to repeat. Jim resides in 8th place and 3.6 points per round out of first place. "To improve more than anyone in 2004 and then do it again in 2005 would be unbelievable," says Mike Davis. "Absolutely unbelievable."
English dropped from the mid 110's to the mid 100's in 2004 to win the season-long tournament. This year's tournament has seen English double his pars per round and raise his bogeys per round by 30 percent.
The 2005 On Tour Championship is expected to slow down as the football season and colder weather hits the northern states.
