Scoring Integrity Begins
February 9, 2006
COLUMBUS, OH — There are thousands of scores posted online. With all scorecards being posted to the group for review, why not add a simple process to achieve some type of scorecard integrity.
Poststats has already inserted those capabilities to its large portfolio. All golfers now have a level of scoring integrity. These 4 levels of scorecard integrity will be displayed online this spring.
Late last year, golfers were given the ability to increase golfer integrity. Entered scorecards can be signed by fellow playing partners up to 30 days after play.
"I am very excited to see integrity added to the scorecards," says Jason Ridgeway. "This really gives everyone a sense of accuracy. Especially with a group that is located throughout America."
The signature process is optional and signed cards are easily identified by a green check mark. The actual scorecard displays the golfer who signed the scorecard.
As of today, each scorecard can be signed by one golfer. By spring, if you play in a foursome, each player in the foursome can sign each others card. That is potentially 12 signatures for one day at the course.
Golfers who enter scorecards for other golfers within their private community are agreeing with the scores, and by default signing them.
Golfers will be labeled with four levels of scorecard integrity including none, low, medium, and high.
The future includes national and regional leaderboards based on signed scorecards or golfers with medium or high integrity.
The 2006 Virtual Tournament currently has 6 golfers on the leaderboard. As winter continues to march on in the northern states, guys have started to dream about the leaves returning to the trees in early-May.
