VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Jean "Smokey" Dore is laying a huge smackdown on the rest of the field in the On Tour Championship this month.  Dore has moved from fourth place and a 49.5 point-per-round average to first place and a 56.7 point-per-round average in a span of just 10 days, in a stretch from October 2nd through October 12th.  His average has jumped an incredible 7.2 points-per-round, a leap that, pending further research, could be one of the largest in Spackler history.

"I knew what I needed to do, and that was play golf, a lot of golf, and play well.  I got into a zone and the rest is history," said Dore.  "OlaFowble laid down the gauntlet.  I answered.  We'll see if he or anybody else has the guts to go out and post a score this late in the year,"  added Smokey.

Despite repeated attempts by SNN to reach Tom Fowble, Nick Casale, Mark Wray, and Mike Trojanowski, none of the players have returned phone calls or emails.

"It looks to me like some guys, especially OlaFowble, posted some scores in late September and then packed it up for the year, thinking that nobody wanted to risk losing any more spots by playing in the so-so October weather," said Mike "Gumby" Davis.  "It's also possible they're reserving their energy for Red Zone Clearance, although I've personally never had to worry about that problem, so I don't get that mindset.  Whatever the reason, I've got news for these guys.  This isn't the PGA tour, this is a man's tour, it's the On Tour Championship founded by Carl Spackler.  You can't ever let up or someone will lay the smackdown on you, and that's exactly what Smokey did," added Gumby.

The On Tour Championship concludes in December.  The Red Zone Alert ends on October 15th.  It looks like Jean Dore has the title locked up, unless he becomes complacent in the remaining few months.
