Ohio Boy Signs Intent

December 4, 2001

COLUMBUS, OH — The State of Ohio has added a huge talent to the 2002 Carl Spackler tournament field.  Today, The Spackler Business Office has announced the signing of ?Rookie? Scott Miller (Westerville, Ohio) to a National Letter of Intent to play in the 2002 Open Championship.

The Captain?s Club believes that Miller, a moderate hacker, has a bright future ahead of him.  Miller will add himself to a list of prominent Ohio players.  Greg Long, winner of the 2001 Open Championship and Jason Watson from Dublin, Ohio.

"We believe that Scott has a good opportunity for the golden jacket," Captain?s Club Member Jay Dilks said. "He has really come a long way since we saw him last April.

"Scott (i.e. Miller Time) must be labeled as the front runner to win the Open.  Miller will be the only player in a talented field to finish in the top 5 in the 2001 Spring and Summer Opens," Dilks continued. "Offensively, we believe that Miller has tremendous potential to improve his game and put up some big numbers both bogeys and pars.

Miller is trying to downplay his highly given expectation.  ?Hey.  I?m just a Rookie to this thing.  There are talented players like Trojanowski and Pokey, which cannot be taken lightly and do not forget that Greg Long is the returning champion.?

Dilks closed the press conference with, "We think he's a good addition, great kid and a solid player.  We are looking forward to April."
