SUFFOLK, VA — The Carl Spackler business office has announced that they have signed Chris Goss of Suffolk, VA to a National Letter of Intent to play in the 2002 Carl Spacker Open.  Chris is the 16th player to register for the event and our 8th rookie.

Gossy will be obtain home field advantage for this year's major as he is a quick 45 minute commute to the golf course.  "Gossy must be favored to at least place", said Matt Davis of the Captains Club.  "His golf season will start in early March while most of us will still have snow and very cold temperatures.  I would have to give him the nod."

The CEO of the Captains Club, Jamie Myers noted, "Gossy is a fantastic athlete.  He will be a great player in our field and we assume that a Gossy-type player will take our tournament to the next level."

The final field will be published this coming week along with tee-times for Round 1.  The tournament is scheduled with a 18-hole Thursday, 27-hole Friday and a 27-hole Saturday.  The awards and purse are also scheduled to be released next week.
