PITTSBURGH, PA — During the tournament season, there are two Spackler majors.  Two championships so prestigious that words can?t describe.  Tournaments that open the golf season and close the golf season.  Randy Watson knows the second major as Golfapalooza or a 54-hole tournament that is played each year in October?s first weekend.

In all, five entries were received. However, 34 were rejected because of money, kitchen passes, or other issues.  These five players traveling to Alpine Lake, WV are Brian Flanagan, Randy Watson, Greg Long, Don McFarland, and Eric Kaniecki.

In addition to defending champion Greg Long (2001), Randy Watson is expected to make a clear statement this year.  "I can hardly wait," says Randy, the Vice President of Player Recruitment and Development. "Alpine Lake will be something we?ve never seen before and I don?t plan to cheat this time.?

Randy was asked about the extremely fast greens.  "Because of the difficulty in hitting those greens, I can see players possibly hitting the ball well but still hitting only 4 to 6 greens," says Watson. "That?s 14 to 16 times they have to get up-and-down to save par or even bogey.  That?s where this Golfapalooza will be won and lost."

"Winning Golfapalooza will be such a memorable thing for me," Randy added. "It?s like Wrigley Field or Fenway Park?it?s a key part of American sports history."
