NORFOLK, VA — Playing well, yet putting poorly, Chris Goss began to wonder when he would win again.  He got somewhat of an answer this weekend when a 24-over 96 allowed him to hold position in the Summer Open Championship.

As a rookie this season, Gossy has a dream of victory in 2002.  "I have been hitting the ball as well or better than anyone on this tour, but I have been just worthless on the greens," said Gossy, who used a new putter this week. "I am pleased with my consistency all around the course.  Right now, I?ll trade anything for a win."

Gossy, who played Chesapeake Golf Club this weekend, stumbled early with two double-bogeys.  When he rolled in 7-footer for par at No. 15, his confidence seemed assured.

Gossy is one of the most consistent players on tour.  Of his 18 rounds this summer, 15 have been in the 90?s.  ?My goal is bogey-golf.  I?m getting better each day and expect to compete in the 2002 Carl Spacker Open Championship.
