Jay Dilks Done
October 22, 2001
ELKTON, MD — Jay Dilks has called it quits since the allocation of kitchen passes for ?fall golf? is been so difficult. ?I?m not going to lead anyone on. I just don?t have the time.?
Dilksy never registered for a round and never planned to play during the months of September and October. The Spackler Open said there was a mix-up between Dilksy and his agent over who would notify the Spackler Open about his plans.
Jay simply needed a few months off after playing seven times in June, July, and August, including a trip to Warren, PA. He plans to play in the 2002 Open Championship in his bid to win the Golden Jacket. Dilksy has been on a rapid rise to respectability. Despite starting the year at the bottom in putting and overall score, he played remarkably well this summer moving to 12th on the Carl Spackler Summer Open leaderboard.
He now is No. 12, and he believes his solid showing in August has secured him a spot in next years Open Championship. "Besides, my rookie card has an extremely high stock value right now."
