Carl Spotted in Ohio
July 15, 2002
WARREN, PA — After many months of getting golf courses in shape for the summer, Carl Spackler has begun roaming the United States periodically for a 2003 Open location.
As of 3:07PM Sunday, there are confirmed reports of Carl Spackler roaming the state of Ohio for the perfect tournament golf course and perfect June weather. According to the source, Carl was spotted in the Madison, OH, a recreational area 45 minutes east of Cleveland.
The Spackler Tournament Administration was contacted for comment. The CEO, Jamie Myers read the following statement, "Carl has been roaming the United States. There is no cause for assuming the Open will be in any particular state, including Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Wherever Carl is right now is not important." His main objective has been to manage the best tournament for the lowest price. Myers added, "As soon as Carl has picked a tournament course, I'm sure that the will come forward with the information."
Next year?s event has been scheduled for June 5th ? 7th, 2003 with a practice round available to participants on June 4th. The field is becoming more competitive and the number of potential golfers registered with the CSOC?s website is a greater indication that the 3rd annual tournament will be a greater success then the second.
Tom McCauley, last year?s Carl Spackler Outfit recipient, was quoted as saying, ?I?m looking forward to this year?s rookies making the same mistake that I made in the inaugural event by not take the tournament seriously. I can?t wait to see one of them in either the new Al Cervic Outfit or the Carl Spackler Outfit if not both!? He went on to state, ?I?ve been dedicating myself to improving my game. I think everyone will be surprised at the results.?
Carl Spackler himself is showing an enthusiastic spring in his step lately. ?Its nice to be able to look at the great strides the event has made and get excited about the future. I think that I have been working on so many of the issues related to the competition, like Andy Cohen failing to register a single round of golf since 2001, that I can occasionally forget what an excellent event this truly is.?
Mike Trojanowski, Entertainment Vice President, has been diligently gathering the final pieces of the puzzle related to the 2003 Open. Details are forthcoming and will be available soon. Mike hinted, ?I?m confident that we will exceed everyone?s expectations.?
