Slick Named Chairman

WILLIAMSBURG, VA — The Carl Spackler Open Championship. today announced that Dublin, Ohio Captain?s Club member and organizational consultant Greg Long, Slick, 30, will be named Chairman of the Captain?s Club.

"Slick has been one of the leading critical thinkers in the world of amateur golf for nearly three decades. He is one of those rare individuals with deep knowledge and experience in both the entertainment and business communities," said Jamie Myers, Chief Executive Officer of the Spackler Open. "Slick?s proven expertise in entertainment management, as well as his distinguished golf trip research and web technologies and its organizational impact, will be a major asset to Carl Spackler Open."

"This is a unique opportunity to serve the amateurs of one of the most important golf groups in the world," Slick said. "I plan to contribute in many dimensions, but most specifically will work to convey the perspective and challenges faced by Chairman?s at large, geographically dispersed organizations."

"This is a unique opportunity to introduce not only information technology to our golf community, but a real neck-n-neck, hole-by-hole tournament atmosphere, that can make everyone feel like they?re in a major.  The act of creating a forum for everyone to be together year-around is the vision.?

The Captain?s Club will be directed through three strategic initiatives for the 2002 Open Championship.  The first will be the implementation of an online scoring system for the official Open.  The second will consist of establishing vendor relationships for ongoing tournament sponsorships.  Lastly, we will continue to increase the field to 20 players from a previous nine players.  The Open Championship is scheduled for April 18, 2002 at The Colonial Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia.  Letters of intent are scheduled to be mailed on November 15, 2001.
