ORLANDO, FL — The 2003 Carl Spackler Open, #1 amateur tournament, will open first round play on Thursday, June 5, 2003 and require a minimum of four full kitchen passes. The field promises to be a group of top amateurs in the golfing world and will cost approximately $375. The tournament will be hosted in an undetermined location in the state of Ohio, West Virginia or Pennsylvania.
Matt Davis (i.e. Pokey), Vice-President of Kitchen Pass Allocation released a quick statement for the Captain?s Club, ?It is important to save a few dollars in your Christmas budgets. This goes for the non-whipped players. Our tournament will be a great opportunity, but will not be free.?
All players will be required to register through the Spackler Business Office by returning your enclosed annual letter of intent and enrollment fee of $125. The total cost of this year?s trip is still unknown, but will be collected in two additional installments after the initial enrollment fee. Letters of intent are scheduled to be mailed in late December.
The Open is coming. With only 45 days left until the Summer Open is complete, all eyes are beginning to turn to what players will allocate the required kitchen passes.
This year?s event has been scheduled for June 5 ? 7th, 2003 with a practice round available to participants on June 4. The field is becoming more competitive and the number of potential golfers registered with the CSOC?s website is a greater indication that the 3rd Annual tournament will be a greater success then the first two.
Tom McCauley, last year?s Carl Spackler Outfit recipient, was quoted as saying, ?I?m looking forward to someone making the same mistakes that I made in the 2002 event by not taking the tournament seriously. I can?t wait to see one of them in either the new Al Cervic Outfit or the Carl Spackler Outfit if not both!? He went on to state, ?I?ve been dedicating myself to improving my game and increasing my tolerance to alcohol. I think everyone will be surprised at the results.?
Carl Spackler himself is showing an enthusiastic spring in his step lately. ?Its nice to be able to look at the great strides the event has made and get excited about the future. I think that I have been working on so many of the issues related to the competition that I can occasionally forget what an excellent event this truly is.?
Greg Long, Chairman of the CSOC?s Captains? Club, has been diligently gathering the final pieces of the puzzle related to the 2003 Open. Details are forthcoming and will be available as soon as possible. Greg hinted, ?I?m confident that we will exceed everyone?s expectations.?
