Garrett and Van Ready

December 3, 2002

HILLIARD, OH — Greg Garrett, a van driver during the official weekend, has signed a national letter of intent to play at 2003 Open this June.

"Greg made a huge impact last year with our player transportation van," Don McFarland said.  "Who else could drive a van in "drive 1" for 250 miles across Interstate 64.  Except this year, he is going to play a lot and will not be suffering from van lag.  He is mentally tough, and he will only need to drive the van 3 hours across the state of Ohio.  I'm also looking forward to seeing his 260 yard three wood again."

Greg added a note to his letter of intent.  "I plan to make a large impact and hopefully be considered as the front runner for the Golden Jacket.  Something tells me that I just need to allow half the field to knock themselves out of the tournament.  Then I will go in for the kill."

The 2003 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for Round 1 play in 189 days.
