SELLARSBURG, IN — Tom McCauley, the 2002 Carl Spackler Outfit Award Winner has signed a national letter of intent to return and play golf at 2003 Carl Spackler Open, announced today by the Captain?s Club.  Tom is the fourth member of the Captain's Club to sign his letter of intent behind Rick Dosky, Jay Dilks and Greg Long.

Last year, McCauley finished dead last at the Open Championship.  "A truly frustrated player and drinker", said Dilks of the Captain?s Club.  Dilks continued, "He works very hard for his accomplishments, which now includes the standard for the Carl Spackler Outfit.  He has already contributed over the past two years with laughs and making everyone feel good about their swing and I feel that he will be a key ingredient to our tournament for years to come."

McCauley, a native of Warren, PA, is currently on tour in Sellarsburg, IN.  Individually, McCauley is a national selection this season while being named the Warren Times Observer "Golf Made Easy" Instructor of the year even after the debacle in Williamsburg in 2002.

McCauley signed his letter of intent and also enclosed a note for the field. "I plan to stay sober for a few holes each day.  I am not about to drive to Geneva-on-the-Lake and have fun. This is for the Golden Jacket and a very large purse.  I don?t expect to finish poorly as I did last season.  I going to keep my head and bring the trophy and jacket back to Louisville.?
