Deadline Arrives

January 5, 2003

ASHTABULA, OH — Plans are now complete for 3rd annual 2003 Carl Spackler Open, scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2003.  The deadline set for January 5th is now here.  The letters of intent were sent to all members in mid-November, and provide many useful resources and information regarding the registration procedures and financial requirements.  Please note two key dates: June 12 is the Wednesday optional practice round to begin at approximately noon.  The other key date is Sunday, the travel day, but also is Father's Day.  Please plan an early departure to spend time with the family.

This year's theme - Now, More than Ever - takes its lead from the mixture of pleasure and excitement that currently has bunkers, lakes, ponds, beach and Lake Erie on the landscape.  With a faltering economy and a hotly contested major championship in the backdrop, this annual tournament provides an excellent opportunity for us to discover new friendships as well as old and also play a little golf without worrying about the shaver or the stress of everyday life.

The Captains Club has worked very hard to make this year's event worth your time and effort. In a relatively brief period, the website itinerary provides a heavy mixture of celebration, golf, entertainment and individual player time.  We have also provided ample opportunity for you to greet old friends and to meet new colleagues from across the country. I suggest that you look over the materials on the green side of the website including the history and awards. From a round of golf with friends on the famous Reserve at Thunder Hill to a drink counseling session with the experts at the PWRP, this may be the year that you will want to come early and stay late.

The Captains Club is looking forward to greeting you more personally in Madison, Ohio.
