Captain Morgan to Sponsor

February 2, 2003

WARREN, PA — The Carl Spackler Open added a talented performer with the signing of Jon Munksgard's letter of intent on Saturday. He will join a men?s golf program that has been on the brink of greatness and has doubled in size since its inception. Jon is the 9th rookie to sign to play in the Open and the 1st to be sponsored.  Current reports have found that Captain Morgan has decided to sponsor Jon Munksgard in a move to position themselves well in the Ohio golf markets.

?We are thrilled that Jon has decided to come to Madison with his Captain Morgan,? said Rick Dosky, Chief Financial Officer of the Captains Club.

Munksgard, will add to an already talented field of rookies for the 3rd annual Carl Spackler Open. Jon has been shooting a consistent 105 strokes per round with a spectacular 95 at Jackson Valley this fall to close out the season.

?Munksgard has a lot of regional Knights of Columbus tournament experience and has a very solid foundation of fundamentals,? Dosky, a fellow Knight, said. ?It?s hard to tell what a national championship atmosphere will do to his game.?

Jon noted in his letter of intent, ?I am a long hitter, but not capable of shooting very low numbers due to my accuracy.  But don't let that fool you as I have my Captain Morgan, a terrific short game and am just now hitting my stride as a competitor in the Warren area.?
