WARREN, PA — The Carl Spackler business office has announced that they have signed John Dick of Warren, PA to a National Letter of Intent to play in the 2003 Carl Spacker Open. John is the 27th player to register for the event and our 12th rookie.

Shoe will obtain the home field advantage for this year's major if you count him as the closest player to the golf course at 2 hours.  "Shoe must be favored to at least place", said son Matt Davis of the Captains Club.  "His golf season starts late because of his geographic location due to snow and very cold temperatures, but Pops will not have an form of jetlag.  I would have to give him the nod if you are looking for a frontrunner."

The CEO of the Captains Club, Jamie Myers noted, "Shoe is a fantastic experienced athlete with most likely the best footwear.  He is a great player and we assume that his experiences will take our tournament to the next level."

The final field will be published this coming week along with tee-times for Round 1. The tournament is scheduled with 18-holes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  The awards presentation is scheduled in the clubhouse on Saturday evening.  As the tournament grows closer and the sponsors continue to come in, the purse is still unknown.
