HERNDON, VA — The Carl Spackler Open announced today the late signing of Glenn Hoffert to a National Letter of Intent.  Hoffert will be eligible to play the 2003 major.

Hoffert, a resident of Washington, recorded five local finishes in the past year and was voted the 2001 On Tour Champion.  "Glenn is one of the best young players in the field of players and we are very excited to welcome him to our program," said Chairman Greg Long.  "His attitude and work ethic will be a great addition to our group.  It is our hope that Glenn can continue the great success of rookies who have become this far.  Lastly, Glenn is an impact type player and I feel like he will be a good contributor to the Open."

The Carl Spackler Open will open play in 60 days in Madison, Ohio.  The field of players has obviously expanded to 29 players for the championship.  Rumors exist that other players will sign late.
