COLUMBUS, OH — The Spackler Business Office today received a surprise letter of intent from Shawn Long, a rookie from out of nowhere that plans to succeed in this upcoming major championship.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 215-pound man has not played golf this year, but plans to capitalize next Saturday on his wedding day in Columbus, OH.  ?Today marks the beginning of my personal quest to win this major championship", said Shawn.  "There will be no time for fun this spring.?

The Chairman of the Captains Club expressed his acceptance to the tournament by saying, "I am very happy that Shawn will be joining the field this year.  He is a fine student of the game and a talented athlete who will add depth to our list of hackers.  There is no telling what he can do with those golf clubs completely covered in chlorophyll."

The Carl Spackler Open received two late signed letters from Glenn Hoffert and now Shawn Long this past week and expect two additional responses this week as the ultimate deadline is near.  The Open Championship will be played in Madison, OH starting on June 12, 2003.
