Play it Where it Lies

WILLIAMSBURG, VA — There is a personality to every major golf tournament, it seems an edge, a quality, a moment for the ages, it is a performance sometimes, the weather and on a rare occasion, a player who defines the rules of the game. A player who will hit the ball from the water five times before taking a drop.
No other sport allows such a playing parade... none other allows one to walk beside a golf idol, to cheer and laugh at his steps not just for one hole with 18 strokes, but two unbelievable holes.
And so in years to come when we harken back to the 2002 Carl Spackler Open, we will remember the heat, remember the Trojanowski victory, but savor the moment when the Myers tried and tried to remove the ball from the lake.
"The ball was only half covered", said Myers. "That was one of the best holes with 18 strokes that I have ever played. My second 18 came in Round 2 and was terrible, but my first round put me in 2nd place." Jamie Myers shot 36 strokes on Hole #18 during the first two rounds.
Myers continued, "The water shots never get old even after last year's shot. My fans really get into it."
