UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — The Captains Club proudly announced it's 5th member for the 2004 Carl Spackler Open on Christmas Thursday. Kyle Marti has signed his letter of intent to play golf and continue his ongoing relationship with Carl Spackler.

"We are excited that Kyle has added himself to the field, but disappointed about the presence of Massachusetts to this national golf event", said Greg Long. Marti moved from Massachusetts to State College, PA to finish his senior year.  Massachusetts was our presence in the north, north east and was 1 of 8 different states represented in the 2004 Open Championship.

The Chairman continued with a statement from the Captains Club, "Kyle was a great fit into our field of players until he tackled one of our members on #18 in 2004.  We are hoping for a much more relaxed and quiet presence in 2004.  Maybe golfing in the sober foursome."  We were impressed as we watched him play this past summer, and in Kyle we see a great desire to play golf at the highest level." Kyle did finish No. 18 in the On Tour Championship and slipped in Round 3 of the 2003 Carl Spackler Open from a 118(Round 2) strokes to 145 strokes(Round 3).

"I plan to have the only tackle in Carl Spackler history", said Marti in his signed letter of intent. "I plan to upgrade my game and decrease my alcohol intake this year and run away with the 2004 major. It will be a Golden Jacket performance for everyone to see."

There is 167 days until the 2004 Carl Spackler Open. The deadline for letters of intent is next Friday, January 2, 2004.
