Honest Mistake

May 5, 2002

COLUMBUS, OH — Dan Weizenecker, tournament member, announced today that he is "extremely embarrassed" for his accident on the golf course.  Dan Weizenecker started par, par, par on the Players Club back nine even though he played someone elses ball in the rough on Hole #10.

"Dan.  Are you playing a top rock?", said playing partner Chris.  "Yes, I am", said an embarrassed Weizenecker.  After a discussion about the rule, Greg Long decided to let Dan just play it to eliminate further social issues.

Jason Watson, Vice President of Tournament Rules, was quickly notified about the rule infringment.  "The Captains Club is sadened by the mistake made this past weekend by Dan.  We fully support Dan in his future golf outings, but will start watching him much more closely."

"It was tough," Dan said, wiping his face after the round.  "I am usually the person complaining about idiots on the golf course."  Dan preceded to finish with 52 strokes on the back nine after starting par, par, par.

It should be noted that Dan Weizenecker carded an impressive 36 points in the On Tour Championship on Saturday.  His four pars and one birdie really setup a good round.  Dan finished his round 35-over par.
