Dead Man Golfing
May 24, 2004
WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Mike Lewis, known as Digger for his part in the burial of dead golfers, has chosen to sign a late letter of intent to play golf at the 2004 Carl Spackler Open in Winston-Salem, NC. His signing comes 16 days before the major championship and replaces member Don McFarland.
"Get busy golfing or get busy dying", said Lewis from his funeral home in Warren, PA. "Is this tournament opening make me an alternate? Regardless, this is an absolute blessing in disguise unless I wear that dreaded outfit Munksgard wore last year."
Jon Munksgard who withdrew on the 54 hole last year and helped the signing of Mike Lewis said, "Mike is the kinda guy that can fall apart out there. Especially after some Captains. Captain Morgan that is. He must be the tournament favorite to wear the Carl Spackler Outfit. I am so excited that I have purchased a new camera and might leave for Winston-Salem one week early."
Mike shoots between 114 and 144 depending on the level of course and alcohol level. Although the final NOOG points are not released yet, Mike is most likely 1 of 5 players getting 1 point for triple bogey.
The Carl Spackler Open begins in 16 days. The field of players will begin arriving in just two weeks.
