Depression in Carolina

May 29, 2002

ROCKY MOUNT, NC — Since his poor showing at this years' Open, Jeremy Myers has not been seen outside his home. "Man, I don't know what to tell you.  For all I know he could be dead in there," said Don Cook in a recent interview. "He won't return my calls, I don't think he's been to work.  I know wearing the Cervic outfit was an embarrassment but I didn't think it would push him to this!"

Chris Lashley has had a little more luck contacting Jeremy, although he too has not had the chance to talk to him but has only contacted him through email.  In a recent email Myers committed himself to a round of golf on May 25, 2002 at The River Golf Club with Lashley and rookie, Brandon Hunter. "I don't know what happened, he registered his tee time on the web site and everything!" said Lashley. "It's been a while since I've seen him and I thought that maybe if he got out into the fresh air that he might just beat this depression he's been in since The Open."  The Captains Club is strongly considering a NOOG point adjustment to tempt his return to the game he loved.

Undisclosed sources have been questioning whether or not Myers is even at his home in Rocky Mount.  Some are fearing that his embarrassment in Virginia has sent Myers into a downward spiral resulting in his commitment to Coastal Plains, a North Carolina mental health facility near Myers? home.  A recent sighting outside the facility identified a man resembling Myers entering the facility in the Cervic outfit. "Whether or not their hiding something has yet to be determined, but you can be sure that I'm going to get to the bottom of it!" said Lashley in a Sunday interview.

"It would be sad if the Open pushed him to this but we all knew it wasn't for the weak hearted!" said Don Cook.  Lashley added, "Let's be thankful that he only had to wear the Cervic outfit.  God knows what would have happened if he had had to wear the Spackler outfit."
