Scary Golf

June 18, 2004

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Matt Davis, Vice President of Kitchen Pass Allocation, was not only scary looking, but finished 28th at his 4th major championship.  He played in roller-coaster tournament in scary fashion.  Pokey shot a scary 98 in Round 1, but turned around on Friday to shoot an impressive 76.  Then returned on Saturday to shoot an embarrassing 101.

"It was scary out there", says Kevin Long, Jr.  "He played so good on Friday with me, I kept asking Mineweaser to pinch me."  Matt Davis shot his 76 with a triple-bogey on Hole #9.  "Pokey really isn't that good," says Hevy.  "It was quite amazing to see him compensate well with his golf swing."  Matt's scary tournament went south early Saturday morning after he scored a dismal 4 points on the front nine of Round 3.

In addition to a scary tournament, Pokey hit a scary shot during the practice round on Wednesday that had "boo" written all over it.  He hit driver from 220 yards as his approach to #11 green.  He was in the middle of the fairway.  Upon striking the ball, it left the ground for 32 yards before landing back on the fairway going about 240 miles per hour.  It continued to "worm-burn" 188 yards up the middle of the fairway, through the apron, across the green and just past the hole.  "His entire existence is scary," says his brother Mike Davis.  "That was the worst approach I have seen in 20 years."  Pokey finished the hole with par.

For the tournament, Pokey shot 20, 58, and 17 points respectively.  One scary day after another.
