Waiting for 1st Place
November 24, 2005
SKILLMAN, NJ — Nick Casale is doing something that nobody would expect heading into Thanksgiving weekend. He is waiting for Jean Dore to post one more round before Christmas.
One round that pushes Jean Dore downward unless Jean returns with 59 points in his next round. This is required to hold onto first position in the season-long 2005 Virtual Tournament.
"I am not the kinda guy that wants the spotlight," says Casale. "However, when the rare chance comes along, you are expected to take advantage. And in very rare occasions, controlling your own destiny is just watching someone fall aside."
The virtual tournament leaderboard consists of the last 10 rounds of golf by each golfer. Jean Dore's 10th round is 70 points and the next round will eliminate the career high number from the leaderboard and readjust the leaderboard.
"I am in New Jersey and it is snowing," says Casale. "Jean has the option to ride out a victory or play one more round around his southern residence. I fully expect a round and probably at Stumpy Lake where he has a chance."
Jean Dore is currently in the lead with 56.4 points per round. Nick Casale holds second position with 55.4 points per round. Mark Wray is in 3rd position and with a window of opportunity for 2 rounds could take over 1st position. There are 37 days left before the tournament completes.
