MOUNT STERLING, KY — The #1 tournament in amateur golf added the #1 public golf facility in the state of Kentucky to the 2005 venue list on Wednesday. Old Silo in Mount Sterling was added with 30 days left before the 2005 Open location is to be selected by the Captains Club.

The course is ranked the 4th best golf course in the state of Kentucky. The #1 public golf course. This 18-hole championship design is situated on 209 acres of rolling bluegrass countryside, and is located just 30 minutes east of Lexington off I-64. Old Silo offers guests a golf experience that combines award-winning design with world-class service.
Somerset Creek meanders through the property and dramatic views add to the aesthetic beauty of the golf course. The golf course features lush bent grass tees, fairways, greens and 98 white sand bunkers. The course offers four sets of tees, ranging from 5,509 yards to 6,977 yards, and is designed to accommodate players of all skill levels.
The 6,000 square foot clubhouse offers panoramic golf course views from its balcony. The interior provides the perfect atmosphere to relax while enjoying your favorite drink from the bar.
The invitations for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open will be mailed on November 15.
