Olde Homestead Out
October 4, 2004
ALLENTOWN, PA — As the Captains Club continues to deliberate the decision of the season, one thing was made clear this week. The club has decided to part ways with Olde Homestead Golf Club, which resides just northwest of Allentown, PA.
Olde Homestead is a combination of state-of-the-art technology blended with 1700's history. Of interest are the two drive-thru corn cribs, a one room schoolhouse, the original summer kitchen built in the 1700's, a horse drawn carriage museum, and the clubhouse which was built in 1910.
Rick Dosky made the quick announcement. "In our process of course deliberation, we have decided to eliminate Olde Homestead as a possibility", said Dosky with a stern face. "The course is outstanding, but just not as outstanding as our other options. We strongly believe Olde Homestead is Top 15 Public in Pennsylvania and highly recommend it."
Some players call the course "the tightest wide-open course" ever played. They talk about the creeks, marsh, ponds, out-of-bounds, and 60 sand traps keeping it secretly tight.
The 2005 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for June 9, 2005. A decision on location will be published on October 15.
