Nascar Option for 2005
November 4, 2004
POTTSVILLE, PA — Jimmie Johnson was the picture of cool after his trip to Victory Lane, mugging for cameras, swigging champagne and using a little math to figure out how close he was to the points lead. He returns to Pocono Raceway during the 2005 Carl Spackler Open to defend his title.
With much delight, the Captains Club has added a "first" Sunday option to the Carl Spackler Open itinerary. The tournament officials have planned an optional Nascar race for interested participants in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Pocono Raceway is 60 minutes northeast of Pottsville, PA. The race is scheduled for Sunday, June 12, 2005.
Tickets are between $45 and $75 depending on availability and seat.
Pocono's unique 2.5-mile tri-oval features three turns, each with a different degree of banking, and three straights, each with a different length. This combination produces fender-to-fender action in the turns, 200 mph slingshots on the long straights and photo-finish endings.
The Nascar race is the 3rd optional event scheduled for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open. A Yuengling Brewery Tour and Maroon's Sports Bar welcome party has also been added.
The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in 216 days. Invitations will be available on November 15.
