Talk of the Town
December 3, 2004
POWELL, OH — Marty Zabonik, an intriguing rookie, has qualified to play in the 2005 Carl Spackler Open Championship, according to Jamie Myers, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Captains Club. Myers made the announcement at the grand opening of the new, sprawling Raleigh CSOC satellite office, where facilities were expanded in response to the high volume of player registrations all over eastern America.
Very little is known about Zabonik, other than his high volume of scorecards for the past 3 years and his role-model handicap (+3) that is sure to bully and intimidate the field of players. In contrast to what the golf world knew about Zabonik, Carl Spackler would be proud of his 1st attempt at the 2005 Golden Jacket.
"We are glad to add great golf and class to our event," says Myers. "If nothing else, Marty can add pace of play to this group of hackers."
Zabonik is the runner up for the 2003 On Tour Championship and the 2nd player to sign from Ohio. Zabonik is the 2nd rookie to sign for the prestigious event scheduled for June 9, 2005. The field of players have 30 days left to register for the 5th major championship in as many years.
