HERNDON, VA — The Captains Club has announced the signing of the 2001 On Tour Champion, Glenn Hoffert of Herndon, VA to a letter of intent for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open. Glenn is the 8th member to sign for the 54-hole golf tournament. This is Glenn's 3rd straight major championship in as many years.

"We are really proud that we recruited such a quality young man as the Jim," Jamie Myers said. "He?s a very seasoned veteran of high calibre amateur golf and also golf league competition. Being part of such a great field should be a big asset coming in because we have very high goals at our major championship."

Myers continued, "We?ve been impressed with Hoffert's sound fundamental golf swing. He really puts in on display in the Spackler News Network video. In addition, he?s got a very good short game with a nice putting touch and his course management is also the best I've seen in years."

Hoffert disappointed his fans after his narrow 2nd place in the 2004 On Tour Championship.  Some fans think his 1/3 point should be classified as laziness and his apparel line could suffer.  Hoffert could have been the first player to win two On Tour Championships.  "I do not need the fan-fair," says Hoffert.  "My idea of winning this tournament is to be quiet and sneek up on the competition."

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open signing deadline ends in 21 days. The Chief Financial Officer will process the mailed checks through January 3rd and then begin to hold other checks for possible return.
