VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Rick Dosky, Captain?s Club member and CFO of the Carl Spackler Open Championship, proudly announced today that Captain?s Club member Kevin Long, Jr. has officially entered the 2005 Carl Spackler Open Championship.  Kevin is the 7th member of the Captains Club to sign.

"While I was jumping and dancing around the house with uncontained disappointment after the Lakers and Raiders lost on Christmas Day, I suddenly remembered that I had to get my letter of intent sent in," said Hevy Jo.  "My hands were shaking so much, I could hardly write at all.  After nearly missing last year's tournament with a late payment, I overnighted my registration."

Hevy, one of his many nicknames, which include Linger, Winger, Eddie Fogel, and a host of others that aren?t appropriate to mention here, shot-gunned another Budweiser and passed some gas in an attempt to calm down. A few hours later, after the smell cleared, we talked about his chances to win.

"I really plan to work hard in the weight room this winter," said an out-of-shape Hevy.  "I know that I?m going to have something for these guys in the later rounds. I cannot just give the tournament away like I did last year with fatigue.  I plan on playing steady, solid golf for the first two rounds, hanging in behind the leader by no more than 5 points or so.  I have the mental toughness for it and just need the stamina."

Hevy led the tournament after Round 1 with an impressive 64 points to open the tournament.  Hevy scored 16 points in Round 2 to ensure he would not challenge the field for his first Golden Jacket.  Hevy finished his 3rd major in 4th place.

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in 160 days.  Players are required to register by January 3, 2005.
