OIL CITY, PA — The Open Championship has verified the 12th best player in the amateur world has signed to play in 2005. Our Chief Financial Officer, Rick Dosky announced the signing of Spackler News Network Chief Anchor Jay Dilks to a national letter of intent for the Carl Spackler Open in Barnesville, PA. As in past years, this is likely to be the lone signee for the state of Maryland, but today he represents Pennsylvania and holds an important home field advantage.

"One of these days, I will recruit someone from Maryland in an attempt to better represent the beautiful state of Maryland", said Dilks. "But, for now, I must practice and practice and hope for the impossible dream of becoming champion."

Dilks has been slipping each year placing 5th in 2001, 10th in 2002, 21st in 2003, and 23rd in 2004.  Despite those statistics, he remains high on the world rankings due to strong attendance.  "Those slipping stats nearly guarantee a great performance in 2005," says Matt Davis of the Captains Club.  "I really cannot imagine Jay outside the Top 25% for another year."

"Dilks is a highly competitive athlete and one of the nation's most sought-after recruits," commented Dosky, who is one of a long list of great amateur golfers. "Dilks is one of few players with experience at Mountain Valley."  He enters the tournament with Greg Long and Brian Long as the only two players with prior experience.

"He is so mentally tough out on the course," says Dosky.  "Hopefully he can continue to be strong throughout the weekend. Dilks will bring lots of talent and enthusiasm to our tournament including an amazing 2004 major behind the microphone."

Jay Dilks signs as the 5th player to represent the state of Pennsylvania.  A record attendance is expected this year.
