Sea Biscuit on a Wire
January 22, 2005
HAVERTOWN, PA — The Captains Club ensured a bright future for the Carl Spackler Open today after a Grady Walters (i.e. Sea Biscuit) national letter of intent was received. As a 2nd year member, this guy is ready to make an impact that cannot be ignored.
Sea Biscuit, a close friend of Don Creighton, Vice President of Consumption Management, made the announcement shortly after retiring for the evening. "I am extremely excited about this year's recruiting and returning members," Creighton said. "This member is not only a dear friend, but he is a player that sits on a wire and attacks down the stretch. The experience speaks volumes about his ability to perform, and they will be great additions to the tournament. This is great for the Open Championship and the phenomenal field of golfers."
"The thing I've been most pleased in 2004 is the way I've handled the pressure as a rookie. I started very poor at Tanglewood Park, but returned for Round 2 and nearly tripled my points," Walters said. "You really cannot afford the butterflies. When you play golf in this major, it is not fun. It?s war out there. The field wants to kick my butt as much as I want to kick theirs. You must bring your game face out in the early morning and put it away in the evenings. It is true balance that represents gold."
The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in 137 days at Mountain Valley Golf Course. The tournament is scheduled to be played on all 27 holes. Each hole will be played twice during the tournament.
