Fuzzy Future

January 25, 2005

ROCKY MOUNT, NC — The Spackler Business Office wants everyone to have the clearest, cleanest golf tournament possible.  But today, Jamie "Fuzzy" Myers signs with a fuzzy future and a golf game that is anything but clean and dependable.

"Nobody knows if our CEO will be back next year," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club.  "He is an important part, but he is looking to downplay his involvement."  He may exit all-together from golf quicker than Jack Nicklaus and without a Golden Jacket for his closet.  That indeed shows the importance of a 2005 championship as his only tournament accolade stems from Round 3 at Williamsburg.  He wore the Czervik Outfit and received cheers from the clubhouse girl.

"For someone looking to tone it down, Myers sure is moving forward," says Long.  "Myers recently committed to a beer drinking clinic after the practice round on Wednesday.  The surprise is that he has never attended the practice round in the 4-year history.  So much for less involvement."  Regardless, Myers signs as the current CEO and 50th player to the tournament field.

Fuzzy's game is also fuzzy.  He returns after shooting a 123 at highly ranked Neuse Golf Club near Raleigh, NC and a pair of 125's at Tanglewood Park last June.  Not very impressive and not as clean as his 103 during Round 2 last June.  "Scoring 53 points was my pinnacle for my golfing career," says Myers. "It was really a good day at the office.  I wish everything worked like that day and I was dependable on the golf course."

Myers was asked about his future as CEO.  He quickly replied, "No comment", and quickly left the press conference mumbling, "How do these rumors get started?"

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in 134 days.  Players continue to sign as the record-field size continues to grow.
