Cervick Returns
February 10, 2005
WARREN, PA — While risking a year on the bench, Steve Mascaro signed his letter of intent nearly 30 days late. His letter arrived in hopes of a chance to return with the Cervick Outfit and leave with the prestigious Golden Jacket. His prayers were answered a few days ago by the Captains Club.
"Steve is a great golfer and a individual who will contribute to the success of the Spackler Open," said Mike Trojanowski of the Captains Club. "I am excited to be around such a player; he has a great deal of room to improve from last year and the excitement should build considerably for his arrival."
The 2nd year member will join the field in June for the annual 54-hole tournament and become the 21st player to have home field advantage and represent the state of Pennsylvania.
Steve Mascaro was reached for comment on the late move. He did not spare his bold predictions. "I'm am very excited they decided to accept my late registration. I think my terrible performance last year should get some extra NOOG points this year."
Last year, Mascaro was in last place after Round 2 in a field of 48. "I can't wait to win my first major, I really can?t wait," he said. "This is my type of golf course. None of these guys know how to the play the elevations."
The 2005 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins in 118 days. A record 65 players have signed to play golf at Mountain Valley for the 5th Golden Jacket.
