Gray Breaks 3 Records

WARREN, PA — John Gray has signed a late, but record national letter-of-intent to attend the Carl Spackler Open Championship at Mountain Valley Golf Course. Third-year player Mike Davis made the announcement on Saturday.

"I'm extremely excited with John's late decision," Davis said. "He continues to break the Spackler signing record.  He establishes the new record of 68 players in a tournament field, the 22nd player to represent a state (Pennsylvania), and the rookie record as the 25th rookie.  Needless to say, we are pleased."

John Gray's golfing career does begin with a big questionmark.  He has until May to post two scorecards.

"We're fortunate to get someone with his personality," says Davis.  "He will benefit our program outside the golf bag significantly because of his exceptional golf clothing attire but also his personality."

John Gray understands and has grown accustomed to the level of golf in which the Spackler Open will demand with players like Chad Long and Brandon Hunter. I believe he's yet another key to the piece of the puzzle for us in becoming a very large national tournament," added Davis.

The 2005 major championship begins in 115 days.
