Free Bus Planned
February 14, 2005
POTTSVILLE, PA — The Captains Club announces the addition of a sober driven bus for Spackler transportation. The move was made in the fall of 2004 to eliminate all drinking and driving during the tournament weekend.
"I cannot restate the importance of using the bus," says Don Creighton, Vice President of Consumption Management. "We are providing the bus as a solution to all drinking and driving. Everyone will be paying for the bus and we fully expect the enrollment of 40 riders."
The Mountain Valley Clubhouse charges $1 to $1.50 per beer and hosts a very large happy hour each Friday night during the summer. It is called "Madness on the Mountain". It starts at 6PM and includes live music. With 36 holes scheduled along with cheap beer, the club is highly recommending the use of the bus.
The Captains Club WILL NOT TOLERATE drinking and driving. The bus will be leaving promptly from the River Inn at 7:00AM for the practice range and the first 8AM tee time. The bus will leave Mountain Valley at 10:15PM on Friday night and return to the River Inn.
"We are not happy with the current enrollment for the bus," says Creighton. "We would like everyone to consider the bus as an option regardless of you plan to drink."
The 2005 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to begin in 114 days. A record enrollment includes 68 players from 12 different states. The golf course is 20 driving minutes from Mountain Valley. The Captains Club plans to have sober transportation each night to eliminate all drinking and driving.
