Man of Honor
March 21, 2005
COLUMBUS, OH — People are honored every day. Heroes are honored for showing amazing bravery in the most desperate of situations. Donors are honored for showing their generosity. Humanitarians are honored for being not only generous with their time and assets but by bringing attention to conditions that would normally go unnoticed.
Carl Spackler also honors its field. Every year, a tournament honoree is named. Michael Trojanowski is the 2005 Honoree. It is fitting that the Open?s first ?winner? of the Carl Spackler Outfit is the tournament's Honoree for the 5th Annual event.
Carl Spackler made the announcement at a local press conference in Columbus, OH. The entire Captains Club was flown in to support one of their own and it was quite a gathering. It must have been like this at the Last Supper or at Sinatra?s place in Vegas when the Rat Pack finished a show.
?Mike represents everything the tournament is about. You can be at your lowest point one day, much like he was in Myrtle Beach. But you have every opportunity to climb the mountain and reach total consciousness. He did this in Williamsburg.? Carl spoke with pride in his voice. ?I am confident that the tournament will never see a Cinderella story like this again.? At this point, the Captains Club erupted with applauds and shouts. They began to slap their ?chosen one? on the back.
Michael addressed the crowd without his usual whip. ?I am truly touched by the group selecting me. I am grateful for this opportunity and will give the tournament my every effort to ensure it will be another smashing success.? A tearful Troj rushed from the podium.
The greatest amateur golf tournament is schedule to start in less then 3 months. Mountain Valley will be the venue hosting 68 field members and of course, the Honoree, Michael ?The Dealer? Trojanowski.
