Long Successful Week
June 19, 2005
POTTSVILLE, PA — The 2005 Carl Spackler Open story has been written. Nobody fills the first ten chapters better than the Long family.
Chuck Long stole the Horses Ass Award from Chad Long (2004) and Kevin Long, Jr. after pure stupidity from each. Chad took home the Webb Award as the best player in Spackler History. Marc Long placed dead last in overall stroke while Brian and Greg Long chased Dosky down the stretch for the Golden Jacket.
Kevin Long, Sr. became the first player to be paralyzed and compete in the same year. Shawn Long made his own personal statement shooting 179-over par during the 54-hole tournament.
"It was quite a week," says Chad Long. "We really had a great time together and looking forward to 2006. "
Kevin Long, Jr. scored the first and only eagle in Spackler tournament history. Chad, Chuck, and Greg Long took a hand full of skins.
"I am just happy that I was able to compete this year at the highest level," says Brian Long. "My game has been up and down all spring and it was fulfulling to play well. It just seemed like everything came together for my 3rd major championship."
The 2006 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for June 10-12, 2006.
